Participants will be workers at consumer goods factories, all privately-owned and of similar size. None of the factories will be in ‘dirty’ industries (i.e. using chemicals or heavy manufacturing). There will be a split of rural and urban sites, to allow for comparison of findings across urban and rural factories. Interventions will be implemented at all partnering factories. Factories are continually being recruited into the research.
The programme will be advertised in each factory throughout the programme, inviting workers to volunteer, producing a self-selecting sample. Workers will be welcome to sign up even after the programme has started, and a certain rate of drop-out is anticipated.
